Life is a Movie

Life is a movie. A series of highs, lows, a plot twist , a blow . Life has suspense, thrill, romance, tragedy and comedy or my personal favorite .. romantic comedies. My life has probably been a series of all of these at some point but the film is still rolling and I’m eager to find out the ending .

. Life holds moments where you feel elated or left on the edge of your seat not knowing what the hell just happened . It can be sad, tragic even .

there are moments in life where you feel suspended in time. Moments where you watch your life unfold before you, but not feeling like it’s your life that you’re watching at all.

moments you wear your heart on your sleeve and end up picking up the pieces.

You laugh, you cry, you laugh so hard food comes out of your nose and you and your best friend remember that moment forever. Our lives attached to emotions . The moments where we felt the most . The most fear, hurt , joy or love. We live in those moments . We live for those moments.

there is trauma . There is pain. There are moments where you stop and say ; this is the moment that scars me. The moment I come undone and there’s no turning back .

the wonderful thing about life though is that the film keeps rolling and the scars heal; you grow; you become a better you.

Life isn’t a movie though . Movies are scripted , thought out . The beginning and ending coming together in perfect harmony to fulfill the viewer . Movies give you closure. Life gives you lessons.

Life is complicated . Life is unpredictable, Life can hurt .

But life is simply that… life. It breathes into us each day and we keep going forth to enjoy, to experience, to live and learn from the film that keeps rolling .

New York

January 2022

I’ve definitely been slacking on telling the tales of my travels, but trust the travels have not ceased. I had the pleasure of enjoying New York with some of the best company and New York did not disappoint.

It is a city that is alive. The energy of its life pulsating through the very veins of its residents; it’s tangible. It vibrates in the streets, reflects off the buildings and absorbs into all that allow her to grace you with her presence. It revives you, makes you feel young and free and full of adventure.

In the streets of New York, i let it overpower my senses. I paused and looked around me I’m awe and excitement . New York is an electricity that reaches your spirit. It grips you at hello; intoxicating.

I see now why it’s the city that never sleeps. It’s New York! You have to feel it to understand. I get it now

Until next time ….

The Bottom of a Bottle of Red

An empty bottle of wine is not frequently a topic of conversation nor an item of admiration per say, but for me it tells a story; a story I wish to tell.

At the risk of sounding like a lush, I love enjoying an excellent bottle of wine. I appreciate the details of it all… the shape of the bottle , the history that lies behind it; even down to the uncorking of the bottle and please use a handheld corkscrew.

Uncorked is the bottle, the wine left open to air, the aromas of spice, berries and notes of acidic deliciousness fill the space around you.

but it’s in the moments that follow that leave me longing for the next time I uncork a bottle:

The smiles shared among friends as their lips take that first sip.

The secrets told in a space of confidence.

The intimate glances shared between two people.

The laughs filling the room with stories told

… all shared around a bottle of red

Wine has always been a staple in my household; well, wine and bread, but this story is about wine.

In a Chilean household, every memorable moment involves a bottle of wine… Chilean wine of course. It seals the moment in time, stamped by the sanctity that is a bottle of Red.

The only thing remaining after these moments are the warmth in our souls caused by both a bit of lingering wine and our hearts filled with laughter and good company

…and on the table will remain the empty bottle of red

As the last drop of red falls, the story of the night is complete and saved for later recollection
